A friend and I went to a vide grenier in Fabrezan today. He’s furnishing a house and is in the market for almost everything. I’m looking for really nice old linen sheets and for Christmas presents – in a couple of cases these are one and the same.
We thought that we’d go early. Not crazy early but at least try and be there by 10. Usually it’s not too crowded by then and not too hard to find somewhere to park. I think that everyone living in the Aude has now figured this out. The traffic was wild. Like a city! There were a couple of parked cars with side mirrors torn off. At one point I thought that I was going to be run over.
It was a big vide grenier with lots of interesting things. As usual some antiques and some junk. My favourite today was a wicker chaise. I have no idea how much it was, even if it was almost a gift I don’t have room for it.
And the weirdest thing was this collection of stuffed birds. What is it with the stuffed stuff? I really don’t understand it. I’d be terrified if any of these were in my house. Besides Iggy – one of my cats – would take it in the shower and try to kill it.
I’ve uploaded other pictures at Flickr if you’re interested.
There were notices for a vide grenier in Olonzac on Nov 4. Someone said that there’s one in Azille – I think – on Nov 12. The best way to find where and when vide greniers are being held is to look at the signs posted around and about. The other way is to check videgrenier.org although it depends on people sending a link with the information.
If you know about any upcoming vide greniers in the Aude please send me an e-mail or add it to the comments section.
