A Day at the Farm
Well, not a day exactly
Last week I listed a farm for sale near Castelnaudary and Mirepoix. It's lovely if you're looking for a property with a bit of land - 5 hectares - a great view, a renovated house and a couple of buildings still to convert.
It's the first time I've been on a working French farm. One with animals and everything.
Sheep, pigs, chickens
Mainly they raise sheep for meat. I asked about wool and the owner said that they do sell the wool but the price is less than the cost of shearing. Ouch. They have to shear them.
They also have the cutest pigs I've ever seen.
And the scariest turkey! He's enormous, he must be almost a metre tall. And not friendly. No picture of him outside of his cage because I was moving too fast to stop and take one. The dog decided to chase the turkey, that pissed the turkey off and he started to chase the dog. The dog figured that "Mum" would protect him and kept heading towards the Mme Farmer. I was standing next to her so ... I said goodbye quickly and headed for the car.

I love this story and especially the pics
