World Cup, Anyone?

I think Flo's a Party Girl

Flo Tonight France is playing England in the Rugby World Cup and Flo is ready.  She dressed for the game before she went to work this morning.  Not that she has tickets.  She lives in the Corbieres and runs the bakery in Servies-en-Val so she'll be watching the game on a big screen somewhere.

Lots of parties tonight.  When I arrived to get bread this morning a woman was leaving the bakery with 3 huge boxes.  Cakes?  Pizza?  Definitely party food.  The woman in front of me left with 2 huge boxes and 8 baguettes.

I could hear Flo doing something in the back room.  She was singing.  She's always singing, or humming, or whistling.  And free associating.  Gateau St. Honore is a decadent combination of choux pastry balls filled with pastry cream, laid on a bed of puff pastry, held together with whipped cream and caramel.  Sometimes it's actually as big as a cake and somethimes you can buy individual pastries.

One day I asked for a St Honore and she broke into an extemporaneous song about St Honore de Balzac.  Honore de Balzac was a French writer and has absolutely nothing to do with Gateaux St Honore.  Or rugby.   But that's Flo.

Today is her birthday so she has two reasons to party.  Bon Anniversaire Flo!
