For sale: Barn to convert in Montlaur, near Carcassonne

Languedoc Property of the Week: Stone barn to convert in the Corbieres

You may not believe this but …  it’s often easier to convert a barn into a house than it is to renovate an existing house.  Easier to run new electrics and plumbing and there are no existing walls that have to be torn down.

You can still get permission for a roof terrace in Montlaur.  Somewhere to sit and sip wine is important!

This barn has windows and a door that can be reopened which makes it easier still.  One thing to keep in mind – it costs anywhere from 1000 to 1500 euros per m2 to do a renovation or conversion.  That assumes you’re paying someone to do the work.  The barn is 50 m2 on the ground floor and 75 on the first floor.  It’s because part of the first floor is over the old arched entrance to the medieval part of Montlaur.

Listed at €32 700
